Folders: Please make sure you check your child’s folder everyday and take out the notes and papers. Review any work with your child and ask him or her what they did in school. Review the Stamp Calendar with your child. If they did not receive a stamp, have him or her explain what they did to move their name. Fill out the reading minutes daily on the calendar. Also, let your child know when he or she has notes to turn in to me. As part of our daily routine, the children are responsible for taking out their own notes and placing them in our collection basket.
Communication: You will receive a weekly newsletter. Report cards come home four times a year in kindergarten: November, January, March, and June.
Snack: In addition to the regular lunchtime, we have a snack time in class every morning. The children should bring something nutritious such as fruit, vegetables, granola bars, or yogurt. Candy, cookies, and chips are not allowed at snack time. In the afternoon, the students are given the opportunity to finish anything they have leftover from lunch.
Lunch: The children have 20 minutes for lunch and 20 minutes for recess. If you did not purchase milk for your child, he or she may bring his or her own drink. Milk is still available for purchase.
Phone Calls: If you call me during the regular school day, you will be given my voicemail, which I check at the end of the day after the students have left. If you have a message that needs to get to me quickly or you are going to pick up your child, let the office staff know.
Pick-ups: If your child is going to be picked up from school rather than ride the bus, you must send a note or call the office. This does not apply to daily pick-ups.
Clothing: As winter approaches, the children will be wearing boots, snowpants, mittens, hats, etc. Please be sure to label all of your child’s clothing with his/her name since we will have many identical items. Also, be sure to buy winter wear that your child can put on independently.
